Which weapons can be used in RAMROD systems?

Other VR companies let their customers use gaming controllers or plastic dummies.

Different units have different weapons. For RAMROD, it is a matter of course to offer up-to-date weapons for its augmented reality systems.

The equipment and armament is determined by the situation, which is why we at RAMROD also want to offer our customers the realistic choice so that they can be adapted according to the exercise situation.

Custom Guns vs. RAMROD Blowback

In general, there are two different approaches to the topic of weapons in the XR environment.


1. Using your own weapons with practice ammunition (blanks / blanks).


2. Using RAMROD CO² blowback systems of the best licensed manufacturers

Own weapons:



- The weapons that are available can be used


- The attachments can be used, which are used daily


- The muscle memory and automatisms are not disturbed


- Legal permissions for use must be obtained by the user


- Cost of ammunition


- Noise pollution due to shot blast / contamination of the weapons




CO² blowback:



- RAMROD provides identical and high quality blowback weapons


- Attachment parts can be transferred to the system


- No legal problems arise


- No permits of any kind are required (exercise registration, environmental protection requirements, etc.)


- Cost of CO² cartridges




We are in contact with manufacturers to provide the most realistic system possible.




Additional systems:


In the future, we also want to incorporate irritant spraying devices and electric impulse devices (e.g. Taser) into augmented reality.

How do weapons work in augmented reality?

In order for you, the user, to be able to use weapons in augmented reality, on the one hand we need to align the physical and virtual model of the weapons / item. So it is not enough to simply use your weapons, otherwise they will not resemble each other in virtual reality. This would have the consequence that our XR claim is no longer given.


Our tracking technology consists of a RAMTRACKER module, which has the approximate size of a laser light module and can be attached to the weapon via Picatinny / Weaver rail.


For pistols, this requires an adapted holster. Through 3D printing, we can offer holsters that are equal in functionality to those available on the market and can accommodate the weapon + tracker.


Carrying straps, foregrips, magazines can also be used in augmented reality.


The current system allows the use of laser (+IR laser) and light in the state of continuous ON or continuous OFF at the beginning of the exercise.
